Chakras, when translated from Sanskrit means disk like wheel. Each of us has seven located along our spinal column. What Causes Chakras to be Blocked?
Some of the most common causes, which create a blocked chakra, include stress and anxiety. These have a direct influence on our body creating a tightness within the body’s tissue, which then restricts the flow of Qi or Prana. Ongoing stress, anxiety, or negative emotions, can reduce our mind’s ability to focus peacefully (meditating) on the movement of energy throughout our body.
When we experience a blocked chakra, it means our energy in that area is sluggish or hampered from flowing smoothly as it should. Picture a stream with many rocks in it, the more the rocks, the slower the stream will flow. As we remove the rocks, the stream will flow more smoothly.
Another way to look at it is having a blocked artery. For our energy to flow, the paths that they flow need to remain open and not blocked. Just like when you are having a hard time driving to work because the traffic is blocking the route you are traveling.
In a very similar way, our chakras cannot function at their best when there is a blockage in the energy pathway. Common causes that hamper a smooth energy flow through our chakras include physical blockage, emotional or psychological blockage, or spiritual blockage.
